How Can You Eat Enough to Get the Proper Nutrition

The correlation between nutrition and health is becoming more and more evident. For example: studies show that phytochemicals such as beta-carotene, lycopene, and isoflavones reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases. These studies have verified the American Cancer Society’s guidelines on diet, nutrition, and cancer prevention. Some of the guidelines, including the U.S. Government’s newly revised Food Pyramid, include: eating foods from plant sources, limiting intake of animal (high-fat) foods, undertaking sufficient physical activity, and limiting alcohol consumption. The bottom line: good nutrition is vital to good health.

The good news is there are ways to maximize your nutrition with dietary supplements and healthy eating. There are so many choices when it comes to vitamins how do you know what is right for you? Many believe that a daily multi-vitamin will alleviate their nutritional problems. Will it? It depends on the quality of the multi-vitamin as well as its bio-availability or the percentage of absorbable nutrients. As with any purchase you usually get what you pay for. Many of the off-the-shelf vitamins are deceptive about their effectiveness. To see how your vitamin stands up check out the book “The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements” by Lyle MacWilliams.

At the Wellness Chiropractic Center at Southpointe we provide a free scan to everyone using the BioPhotonic Scanner, a revolutionary tool developed by Pharmanex to measure the carotenoid antioxidant levels in your skin and prove the effectiveness of your supplements in improving your overall antioxidant health. How does it work? You place the palm of your hand in front of the Scanner’s safe, low-energy blue light laser, and you will obtain an immediate reading of the carotenoid antioxidant levels in your skin — your Skin Carotenoid Score. You can increase your Skin Carotenoid Score by eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and by taking a high-quality, comprehensive supplement that provides antioxidants.
