The more stories our editors uncover about the people who live and work here, the more apparent it is that Peters Township is one of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s best-kept secrets. This is one of those rare townships that has successfully created its own richly varied tapestry of life, work and fun.
You’ll find the evidence of this assertion throughout this issue of Peters Township Magazine.
For example, we’ve included a piece about the little known Peters Township Equestrian Association, only a year in existence. Representing an opportunity for young horse enthusiasts to develop camaraderie and competitive skills, the team belongs to the national Interscholastic Equestrian Association, and competes in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey events.
We have also included a special section on real estate and discovered that the housing boom that began in Peters Township in the 1960s continues to reverberate throughout the community well into the 21st century. Peters Township is one of the fastest-growing communities in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Just look at the growth of new developments some featuring custom-built, single family homes, others boasting townhouses and quad units. In fact, as the community grows, township planners are struggling to maintain the township’s rural character.
And then there are the murals of Gregg Valley, who does artwork for clients ranging from Pepsi and McDonald's to the Natural Wildlife Federation and the U.S. Postal Service, an indication that Peters Township has become a desirable environment for all kinds of creative people. You’ll like our story about the McMurray Art League.
Finally, a special welcome to Geno Levi, owner and Artistic Director of Geno Levi Spirit and Style Salon. Geno will be featured as a regular columnist in the magazine. We have confidence that he will leave a lasting impression through the words of his column.
Enjoy, and let us know what you think.
