Educationally Speaking...

When we ask our readers what they want to read about in this magazine, one of the most frequently mentioned topics is education. Where are our graduating high school seniors going to college and how do we – and they – pay for it? It’s a topic that grabs parents’ attention, and as members of the tail end of the baby boomer generation, it’s an issue we face personally. Though we’re both at an age that many would consider to be mid-life, thoughts of securing our futures and planning for retirement are being challenged on our priority list by our children, who will face college decisions in a very short time. The good news is that there are experts out there to guide us through this process. We hope that the articles in this issue will give you a bit of guidance as you face the same decisions. And speaking of education, congratulations to the Peters Township High School Class of 2006.

Part of the reason that we look to experts for answers is very simple—they know more than we do, and could teach us a thing or two (or more) about their fields of expertise. That’s why, in each issue of Peters Township Magazine, we feature “experts” in various fields writing “Columns of Knowledge.” These columnists provide information on health care, insurance, computers, law, finance, personal appearance, jewelry, travel, chiropractic and wellness, interior design, life planning, and food! And we’re planning for more.

These columns are a cornerstone of Peters Township Magazine. Our writers have been carefully selected to provide information to you, our readers.  They're some of the best in their fields. In addition to the other information the magazine offers – community events, sports, and township events – we’re hopeful that you find these columns to be a useful resource.

As we look to the summer, with school out, vacations approaching, and plenty of fun activities ahead, perhaps we should follow the example of our cover boy, Jack Van Zandt: relax, enjoy the nice weather, and have fun! As you can see, he’s an expert at this.

Best wishes for a great summer!
