Summer Camps and Bible Schools

CENTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
A one-week vacation Bible school begins Monday June 19. Sessions are held from 9 a.m. to noon at the church at 255 Center Church Road in McMurray. This free program is open to children between 4-years-old and sixth-grade. To register, call 724-941-9050.

EXTENDED DAY SERVICES
Extended Day Services operates a full-day summer camp at Eisenhower Elementary School in Upper St. Clair.

Both camps run every weekday from the end of the school year until the beginning of the following school year. Both camps operate daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and parents may choose how many and which days their children attend camp according to their needs throughout the summer.

The summer camps are designed for students who have completed grades K through 6. Students have the opportunity to select from many summer course offerings including cooking classes, arts and crafts classes and a variety of sports including, soccer, football, and hockey.

Summer Camp includes weekly swim trips to Scott Pool and field trips to places such as Wildwood Highlands, Funfest and Carnegie Science Center.

HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH

JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER OF GREATER PITTSBURGH
The South Hills Branch of the JCC offers a variety of summer camp classes from June to August, including an overnight camp along Lake Cheat, just outside of Morgantown, West Virginia.

NEW DAY ASSEMBLY OF GOD
Vacation Bible School is July 10-14 from 9 a.m. to noon, at the church at 701 Circle Drive in Upper St. Clair. This year’s program is entitled “Jerusalem Marketplace.” For more information call 724-941-1661.

OUR REDEEMER EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH
This year’s Vacation Bible School runs from July 31-Aug. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the church, on 105 Gateshead Drive. For more information, call 724-941-7467.

PETERS CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH
“Metamorphosis Returns” is the theme of this year’s Vacation Bible School, which runs from June 19-23 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the church, on 6300 Library Road in South Park. The program is open to children who have completed first through fifth grades. There is a $5 fee per child.

The church is also holding a pre-school Vacation Bible School called “Son Treasure Island” for children 3 years old through those who have completed kindergarten. Times, dates and costs are the same as the older kids’ program.

Additionally, the church is hosting “All About Kids,” a Bible-based performing arts day camp scheduled for July 30 through Aug. 4. The program is open to children who have completed first through sixth grade. The cost is $99 per child. For more information call 412-833-6111.

PETERS CREEK UNITED PRESBYTERIAN
Vacation Bible School is scheduled from June 19-23 at the church. The program is open to kids 3-years-old through fifth grade. There is no fee. For more information, call 724-941-6210.

ST. BENEDICT THE ABBOTT ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
A week-long Vacation Bible School with a “Fiesta” theme starts on Monday, July 10, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the church on 120 Abbington Drive. The program is open to children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Cost is $20 per child. The fifth and sixth grade program is held at the same time, with a cost of $40 per child. SOUTH HILLS BIBLE CHAPEL
A week-long Vacation Bible School begins on Monday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is open to children kindergarten-age through sixth grade. Cost is $8 for elementary age children and $18 for fifth and sixth graders. For more information, call 724-941-8990.

SOUTH HILLS YMCA
From overnight summer camps to afternoon camps for pre-schoolers, the YMCA offers a big selection of summer activities for kids. Specialized camps focus on building athletic skills like swimming, floor hockey, basketball and cheerleading. For more information, call the YMCA at 412-833-5600. THOMAS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
