Princess Ball at Peters Community Center
Join in a magical evening celebrating Valentine’s Day: the Princess Ball, a father-daughter dance at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center. The evening includes dinner, dancing to music by DJ Zini, a keepsake photo, and more. So bring your little princess (age 12 and under) to a dazzling night that she will remember forever, on Friday, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Couples are not limited to father/daughter; they can be grandfather/granddaughter, uncle/niece, and so on. Laparoscopic Weight Loss Seminar and Support Group St. Clair Hospital and Hope Bariatrics will offer a free laparoscopic weight-loss-surgery seminar on Monday, February 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a support-group meeting from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the fourth-floor meeting room of the hospital, which is located at 1000 Bower Hill Road in Mt. Lebanon. Geoffrey Wilcox, M.D., and Michael Felix, M.D., of Hope Bariatrics will discuss gastric bypass surgery one of the most effective treatments for morbid obesity. Peters Baseball Boosters Annual Monte Carlo Night
The Peters Township Diamondbackers High School Baseball Boosters invites adults to its annual Monte Carlo Night, on Saturday, February 23, starting at 6:00 p.m. The venue is St. Benedict’s O’Brien Hall. This exciting event features a buffet dinner, libations, DJ, games, giveaways, auctions, and prizes all night long. This fundraiser supports the high school baseball program, 2007 WPIAL Champions. Samuel J Foundation Evening-of-Comedy Fundraiser
Samuel Jacob Johnson was three years old when he died of a brain tumor. His bright spirit lives on today through the Samuel J Foundation. “Laughter Is the Best Medicine” is a comedy benefit for the Foundation’s Pediatric Brain Tumor Fund. The annual event is planned for February 23 at 8:00 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel Green Tree. Scheduled to appear are several Pittsburgh comics: Buzz Nutley, Chuck Mignanelli, and Trina Hess. In addition, there will be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction with great prizes, as well as a cash bar. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. Peters High School Musicians at Heinz Hall
The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh on February 24, starting at 2:00 p.m. Several students from Peters Township High School are playing in the orchestra. The Integrity of Love
Sometimes we feel stuck. Emotional problems, difficulties with relationships, or physical problems seem to overwhelm us. And, try as we might, we can’t seem to figure out how to get out from under them. Dog Days in Peters Township
The Peters Parks and Recreation Department is offering a six-week Basic Dog Obedience course Thursday evenings, March 6 through April 10 (no dogs first session). Times: 7:00 p.m. for 38-month-old puppies; 8:15 p.m. for puppies over 8 months old and adult dogs. Fees: members, $65.00; nonmembers, $98.00 (there is a $30.00 fee to audit the course). Sorry, no children under 16 years of age are allowed to attend sessions. Location: Peters Township Community Room, 200 Municipal Drive (back of the Police Station). On two Saturdays, April 19 and 26, there’s another course: Dog School: Walking Your Dog! Hours are 2:004:00 p.m. and the fees are $20.00 for members and $30.00 for nonmembers. Limit one handler per dog. Dogs must be 3 months or older. Handlers must be 16 years of age or older. No observers please. Location: Peterswood Park Amphitheater.
